O na chawn ddifyru nyddiau

(Hiraeth am fwynhad)
O na chawn ddifyru nyddiau
  Llwythog, dan dy werthfawr groes,
A phob meddwl wedi ei g'lymu
Wrth dy berson ddydd a nos:
    Tan dy gysgod,
  Mewn tangnefedd pur a hedd.

Dyma'r man dymunwn drigo,
  Wrth afonydd gloywon llawn,
Sydd yn llifo o ddwfr y bywyd,
  O foreuddydd hyd brydnawn;
    Lle cawn yfed,
  Hyfryd gariad byth a hedd.

Ffordd nid oes o waredigaeth,
  Ond agorwyd ar y pren,
Llwybr pechaduriaid euog,
Mewn i byrth y nefoedd wen:
    Dyma gefnffordd,
  Gwna i mi'i cherdded tra f'wyf byw.
William Williams 1717-91

gwelir:
Arnat Iesu boed fy meddwl
Croesau trymion sydd yn felus
Dyma Geidwad i'r colledig
Ffordd nid oes o waredigaeth
Heddyw yw'r dydd rwi'n ofni syrthio
Y mae rhinwedd gras y nefoedd

(Longing for enjoyment)
O that I could get to enjoy burdensome
  Days, under thy precious cross,
With every thought tied
To thy person day and night:
    Under thy shadow,
  In pure tranquility and peace.

Here is the place I would wish to dwell,
  By bright, full waters,
Which are flowing with the water of life,
  From morning until evening;
Where I may get to drink,
  Delightful love forever and peace.

There is no way of deliverance,
But that opened on the tree,
A path of guilty sinners,
Into the portals of the bright heavens:
    Here is a highway,
May me walk it while ever I live.
tr. 2019 Richard B Gillion
